Frequently Asked Questions

A Loss Assessor is a professional claims negotiator who acts on behalf of the Insured (i.e you) in the notification, compilation, preparation and negotiation of your insurance claim. Our objective is to secure the best possible settlement for you under the terms of the policy.

A Loss Adjuster is a professional claims handler who acts on behalf of the Insurance Company. The Loss Adjuster’s objective is to secure the best possible settlement for the Insurance Company under the terms of your policy.

The Insured pays the Loss Assessor’s fee and the Insurance Company pays the Loss Adjusters fee.

Although the Loss Adjuster is obliged to treat and advise the policyholder fairly, he/she will adjust the claim as presented to him/her.

Ken Lenihan has worked as both a Loss Adjuster and as a Loss Assessor and brings a great wealth of expertise to the Insured.

Ken Lenihan & Associates Ltd will help you to understand the end to end claims process. We work solely for the insured party, giving you reassurance that you have someone with your best interests at the forefront of any negotiation.

Ken Lenihan & Associates Ltd can explain what you may or may not be entitled to based on your policy and the circumstances. In many situations, clients have to balance overcoming the situation (i.e. natural disaster event, disruption to their business), with dealing with Insurance providers.

As your advocate, we work for you so that you can focus on getting back to business (or life) as quickly as possible.

There are a number of times when it is ideal to engage Ken Lenihan & Associates Ltd.

  • If you have a query on a potential claim issue.
  • When an emergency or situation has occurred, and it is likely you will need to make an insurance claim. We are available 7 days a week.
  • If you have started to engage with your insurance company and you are looking to make an insurance claim.
  • If you are concerned that the negotiation and settlement will be time consuming, and/or not result in the full payment of your claim.
  • You are not satisfied with your proposed claim settlement value from the insurer or need specialist advice to deal with the Financial Services Ombudsman.
  • You are not satisfied with a claim declinature.
  • You are not satisfied with advice received when notifying a claim to the Insurance Company.

As you can imagine, the earlier we are engaged, the better we can assist you with your claim, negotiation and settlement.

This may be correct. However, your no claims bonus will be reinstated within two years but definitely should not be a deterrent from claiming. You are, after all, paying for a financial service and the quality of this service will only be realised when you decide to activate the claims clause.
